Robert Parsons was born in Newark in 1530, and in 1570 was drowned in the River Trent, a few miles from his birthplace. He was a composer of some contrapuntal ingenuity who, almost certainly, was an influence on William Bryd. Five "In Nomine" settings survived, two in seven parts, one in five, and these two in four parts.

1. In nomine I
2. In nomine II
