More info

Beginning in Osaka Japan over 60 years ago, Takeyama have now become one of the most sought-after recorder makers anywhere in the world. They employ the extremely fine woodworking skills for which Japan is famous and combine that with a unique gift for matching the voicing of the recorder to the characteristics of the wood being used.

Cherry is the lightest of recorder woods.  The sound is warm and dark. There is nothing shrill in the sound, especially in the upper register. When combined with the gentle beginning to the notes, this makes the cherrywood tenor a beautiful instrument for elegant shaping of phrases

Takeyama tend to leave no excess wood anywhere on the recorder – consequently their recorders feel very fine and slender in the hands and weigh significantly less than recorders from most other makers. The finger-hole spacings also tend to be closer.
