Daniel Hellbach was born in 1958 & he is a Swiss music teacher and composer. In the last 10 years Hellbach has made a name for himself in Switzerland and even throughout Europe as a composer of popular teaching literature. His style combines various elements from pop, rock, jazz but also classical music. This combination results in a tonal/musical language which meets the taste of a wide public. With his compositions he has fulfilled the long-standing wish of many of the young, but also young at heart: the opportunity to play music with which they can identify and also express their feelings.

Daniel Hellbach says: 'These pieces are an answer to the frequent requests I have received for more demanding works for ensemble in the style of 'Rock it' Volumes 1 and 2.

Stylistically they range from hard rock to expressive rock ballads and demand from students a great deal of skilfulness and rhythmic feeling.

The piano accompaniments can likewise be challenging and require confident chordal playing and considerable energy.

As with the first two volumes, these pieces have been recorded with a band. They also work well with only piano accompaniment. The chord notation also makes the addition of other instruments such as guitar or keyboard possible.

The CD contains complete recordings of all works in two different tempi (except for No. 2, which is only in one tempo) in each of the following versions:

  • all instruments
  • band only
  • all 'Minus One' in the fast version.

The slow 'Minus One' versions (as well as other recordings) can be downloaded free of charge as mp3 files from the website www.acanthus-music.ch.

These additional tracks are the last three for each work.
