These four bass solo pieces are good technical exercises. The first covers playing a drone whilst singing and there is flutter tonguing on high notes, piano. 2 uses the 6/8, 3/4 alternating device also with piano flutter tonguing. It finishes with the dominant scale,
so feels completely unfinished! 3 requires lyrical playing with two sets of bars to be sung suddenly placed in the middle of the piece which to my mind don't work. 4 is definitely about time signatures and the most fun to play. MU
