Lance Eccles - Three Little Tardigrades and Across the Sky - OMP303
'Three Little Tardigrades is a curious work (published in 2020) by the Australian composer, linguist and academic Lance Eccles. Tardigrades are a phylum of eight-legged segmented micro-animals that live in moss, lichen and aquatic mud throughout the world. This is certainly a unique inspiration for a recorder quartet and Eccles succeeds in displaying the three different quirky characters of the tardigrades with the third movement being the most feisty and fast!
Lance Eccles' Across the Sky (published in 2022) is another recorder quartet of three movements, with a scatty Flock of Pigeons, a relaxing and soothing In a Balloon, followed by more erratic and fast moving Flying Foxes (fruit bats) to end another unusual and fun modern work for the recorder'.
