8 Fantasias for solo recorders

The composer Steve Griffiths writes: 'These pieces were composed to challenge and entertain advanced recorder players and perhaps as occasional recital items. They are not intended to be played as a set, nor in any particular order. as with the Telemann Fantasias which suggested the general layout of the music, each piece stands alone. 

The Fantasias were written for the instrument named at it's head, from Garklein down to Contra Bass, and the character of the music was influenced by the specific timbre and technical limitations of each. There is no reason why they cannot be played on whatever recorder comes to hand, however, changing between C & F fingerings is necessary, although the effects might be rather bizarre at the extreme ends of the range'.
