Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina (c. 1525 – 2 February 1594) was an Italian composer of late Renaissance music. The central representative of the Roman School, with Orlande de Lassus and Tomas Luis de Victoria, Palestrina is considered the leading composer of late 16th-century Europe.
Published in 1567, the work is well known for its beautiful, intricate harmonies, and it has been studied for centuries as an example of polyphonic choral music.
Alex Ayre was a British recorder teacher and performer who arranged over 500 pieces, of mainly English Renaissance and Baroque music, for recorder ensembles.
