* All that is known about the life of Johann Christoph Schultze is that he was presumably born in 1733, that he conducted at Doebbelin's Theatre in Berlin as from 1768, and that he died on 23 August 1813 in Berlin. The number of compositions that can so far be ascribed to him is small.
