This edition of the Concerto Pastorale by Johann Christoph Pez (1664-1716) - originally composed in F major for two (alto) recorders and strings - has been arranged for a recorder sextet and transposed up a fifth. With the excepton of the two solo soprano parts, each of the other parts can be performed by more than one player. Even a contrabass recorder can be used to reinforce the bass line.
The opening Adagio should not be played too slowly, nor should the Presto movement be played too quickly.
The Concerto Pastorale originally included a very long four-part Passacaglia (232 measures). This movement has been left out of this arrangement. This arrangement is not hd to play and I hope you enjoy performing it. Ulrich Herrmann - Verden, Germany, March 2004
Score: 15 pages. 6 parts @ 6 pages ea.
