*Contemporary pieces.* Four exciting pieces using a variety of techniques such as singing and flutter tonguing. Provides opportunity for both extrovert flair and introspective lyrical playing.

These four bass solo pieces are good technical exercises. The first covers playing a drone whilst singing and there is flutter tonguing on high notes, piano. 2 uses the 6/8, 3/4 alternating device also with piano flutter tonguing. It finishes with the dominant scale,
so feels completely unfinished! 3 requires lyrical playing with two sets of bars to be sung suddenly placed in the middle of the piece which to my mind don't work. 4 is definitely about time signatures and the most fun to play. MU
