Dinosauria is a piece written for recorder quartet.
Composer Lance Eccles says: "Dinosauria (SATB quartet) describes animals in the prehistoric landscape. In Jurassic Herds on the Plain the various dinosaurs are quietly grazing, but then 4/4 changes to 5/4, the tempo increases, and there is more activity. Hatching of the Baby Dinosaurs begins with little pecks inside the eggs, but soon the babies are free and on their way. Ammonites Drifting in the Sea float up through a series of harmonic suspensions, sink a little, then rise up again. The Pterodactyls in the Sky swoop up and down on their huge bat-like wings, sometimes executing rhythms that run counter to the general 4/4."
There are 4 parts as follows:
1. Jurassic Herds on the Plain
2. Hatching of the Baby Dinosaurs
3. Ammonites Drifting in the Sea
4. Pterodactyls in the Sky
Score: 11 pages. 4 parts @ 4 pages ea.
