Description

The arranger Monika Mandelartz says: 'This is my personal collection of figured bass pieces that I have been collecting since I was a student, initially for my own use, and later for my students. Meanwhile, due to the abundance of musicians using figured bass and improvisation the time has come to publish my collection'.

For sessions with historical improvisation: Playford's famous melodies, French dances and much more. The framework with a melody, harmonies and additional meldoy parts are included.

As practice pieces for Figured Bass: Anyone who wants to learn figured bass will find plenty of literature within this book, which is ordered according to level of difficulty. The highlight? Several contrasting pieces that are also interesting for melodic instrument players. With this collection, the continuo player has the opportunity to begin with an extremely simple figured bass, and the ability to find other players, because all of the pieces are musically interesting.

All the pieces in this collection can be played in pairs with an upper part and figured bass, or with multiple players.

Material covered: Open fifths, root position chords, 6/4 chords, figured bass notation, drone, pendulum bass, peddle point, parallel chords, dominant and tonic chord progressions

Score only: 85 pages.
