Description

Contemporary solo for tenor solo. A great entry point to extended technique with a extensive list and explanation of musical symbols.

"What instrument would be better suited to depicting tears and mourning, but also to give comfort than the "flûte douce"? The soft, caressing, melancholic sound of the recorder had the task of representing special emotions even in the age of thorough bass. Johann Sebastian Bach uses them, for example, in the cantata "My sighs, my tears", BWV 13, in the bass aria "Ächzen und pathetically crying" onomatopoeic with sighing motifs. In baroque operas, the sweet sound of the recorder cannot be missing when it comes to love. In this sense, lamentation is an exercise in emotionally charged play. The tenor flute should be made to weep, sigh, tremble and tremble. The gentle ending could be interpreted as a consolation. It should be made as quiet as possible."
