Ochsen Menuett - Ox Minuet arranged for Recorder Quartet and Percussion Instruments by Albrecht Rosenstengel.
Haydn's 'Ox' Minuet derives its name from a little anecdote wherein the composer, for having delivered the piece to a farmer, was thanked by way of the gift of an ox. Our version calls for a recorder quartet (D - T - T - B) with optional percussion, though a performance of recorders alone would be just as effective.
The piece has a marked bucolic character and should appear more a rustic dance than a classical minuet. Tempo moderato please. Albrecht Rosenstengal.
