Sonata No. 2 is not only recognised as Finger~~~~~s finest sonata, but also one of the greatest ever written for the instrument - perhaps because of the remarkable power and grandeur not commonly associated with recorder music. The Times, in 1969, commented that it had "a surprising warmth and intensity".
