Composer Nicholas Marshall was born in 1942 in Plymouth, and studied music at Fitzwilliam College in Cambridge and at the Royal College of Music. He has been active as a choral conductor, pianist and music lecturer.
The Garden of Eden was originally written at John Turner's request for the unusual combination of recorder, guitar and harpsichord. The present version of the suite for recorder and keyboard (piano or harpsichord) was given its first performance by John Turner and Tony Metcalfe in St. Mary's Church, Nantwich on 12 August 2004. The original trio version of the work, and an alternative version for recorder and string quartet, are also available from the publishers.
Score: 16 pages. 1 part @ 5 pages only.
