Description

The Contemporary Recorder - Series Editor John Turner

*A Contemporary Duo for Recorder and Viola.* A fascinating aspect to this work is that the composer has made a musical theme based on the letters of his name. The composer has also arranged this work for recorder and clarinet.

1. Comodo (Tenor & Clarinet)
2. Andante (Treble & Clarinet)
3. Vivace (Descant & Clarinet)

Composer Robert Crawford was born near Edinburgh in 1925 & started composing whilst still at school. The Three Two-Part Inventions for recorder and viola were written in 2001 specifically for a CD recording (Aspects of Nature: Music for Recorder by English & Scottish composers, Olympia OCD714) on which they were performed by John Turner and Tom Dunn. The first concert performance of the set was given at Huddersfield University on 18th October 2007 by John Turner and Duncan Druce. A version of the work for recorder and clarinet in B flat was made by the composer in 2008.
