Hochzeitsmarsch (Wedding March) from 'a Midsummer Night's Dream, Op. 61, No. 9 arranged for Recorder Groups and Percussion by Albrecht Rosenstengal.
Any list of the most frequently performed musical works of all time would have to include the Wedding March by Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy (1809-1847). It comes from his incidental music to Shakespeare' 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'. Inspired by a theatrical performance he saw in Berlin at a mere seventeen years of age, he composed the brilliant Overture Op. 21. Seventeen years later, at the request of the King of Prussia. Mendelssohn added a complete stage material. Out of this, the stirring Wedding March was to become so popular that it may still be heard during most wedding ceremonies throughout the world. The piece would likewise be suitable for domestic or family festivities or for small musical gatherings. Consequently, Prof. Rosenstengal has, for his arrangement, made a lively setting, which cannot fail to please, for Recorder Ensemble of four parts, with timpani and triangle.
Score: 8 pages. 5 parts @ 2 pages ea.
